Preview: God’s people have been provided with very specific guidelines to assist in the proper raising of our children in the Word of the Lord. Following these guidelines will make our home life peaceful and happy for the entire family, with no confusion or misunderstanding of expectations.

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:1-10.

Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:4.

1. Are parents commanded to train their children? Why? Proverbs 22:6.
2. How should they be brought up? Ephesians 6:4.
3. How diligently should parents teach their children the Word of God? Deuteronomy 6:4-7.
4. What principle of living should be placed before the children? I Timothy 4:12-16.
5. What duty does God require of the children? Exodus 20:12.
Note: The sins of selfishness, disobedience, and ingratitude are common in our world today. A lack of real love for mankind and God has brought about this condition.
6. Why did God reprove Eli? I Samuel 3:12-14.
7. Should the youth be taught to honor the aged? Discuss. Leviticus 19:32.
8. What is the result when a child is properly trained? Proverbs 29:17.
9. What is the result when a child is left to himself? Proverbs 29:15.
10. What is the cure for foolishness? Proverbs 22:15.
11. What is the danger in delaying correction? Proverbs 19:18.
Note: The disrespect that children have for their parents is largely because of negligence on the part of the parents to train them properly. The average child of this world almost bosses his parents. Many parents stand by and let their children do as they please, and afterward they suffer for something which could have been avoided.
12. What type of correction will help save the child’s soul? Proverbs 23:13-14.
13. What is the proof of true love for our children? Proverbs 13:24.
14. Why does the Lord chasten us? Hebrews 12:6.
15. Against what evil should every parent guard? Colossians 3:21.
Note: How happy will be those parents who can say in that day, “Behold, here am I and the children that thou gave to me.”
